Expect exceptional flakiness and flavor when you use pasture raised leaf lard in your biscuits and pie crust.

Leaf lard is the hard fat found inside the pig near the kidneys. It contains no trans fats, but is full of monounsaturated fats, especially when it comes from pasture raised pigs, which makes it a healthy fat option.

Our leaf lard is vacuum packed in 2 LB packages and is NOT rendered.

To get pork lard into a state that is usable for cooking, it must be rendered. This is done by slowly melting the lard in a pot or in the oven. Once the fat has stopped bubbling you will be left with the pure lard. Strain out any solids and let cool.

Your rendered lard can used for frying on stovetop or in biscuits or pie crust instead of butter.

Each package of Red House Ranch pork lard weighs about two pounds.
